Metheringham Over 60’s Club plays an active part in village life involving 170 members.
The Club was formed in 1957 and has functioned on a split season basis since its inauguration, in so far that it has sought to organise coach trips in the summer months and entertainment in the Village Hall during the autumn and winter months, We hold three coffee mornings a year; our members are always generous and very supportive.
The Members enjoy a free fish and chip night, afternoon tea and an annual Christmas Dinner. The club organises outings to theatre and flower shows. A holiday is arranged each year. September 2007 forty nine Members travelled to Bunclody, near Wexford and enjoyed a wonderful 7 days. In November 59 Members spent seven days in Scotland for a Turkey and tinsel holiday which again was a great success. September 2008 we are spending 6 days in Eastbourne and in November we travel to Caernarfon for six days.
Annual Membership is £5.00 – visitors £2.00. We meet the first Wednesday of each month September to May in the Village Hall for 7.00 pm. Doors open 6.30 pm.
The club has a very happy, relaxed and cheerful atmosphere is well supported and the founder Members can congratulate themselves on an excellent club.
We celebrated our 50 th Anniversary in August 2007. All Members were transported by coach (people with mobility problems were taken by car) to the Petwood Hotel at Woodhall Spa where we enjoyed a lovely Dinner, each Member was presented with a yellow rose, notepad and pen suitably designed with the club name and date. We were entertained by the CS Band with music from the 50’s and 60’s.
