Welcome to Your Library
Metheringham Library is based in the heart of the village, opposite the Star and Garter pub, and is open for 22 hours per week.
The library caters for all age groups, from babies to senior citizens, and is free to join - simply bring 2 proofs of ID with you when you visit.
We have a wide selection of books, cassette tapes (“talking books”) and non-fiction videos for all tastes. With 2 People's Network machines, we have free access all the time to the Internet and word processing etc. The only charge is 10p per sheet to print. Booking not always necessary but advisible.
Although we may be small, we run many activities on a regular basis, particularly for children. We have a pre-school story time on the first and third Friday of each month from 2.15pm to 2.45pm. These sessions are free and allow mums and dads to choose their books in peace whilst their little ones listen to a story and colour a picture. We have even been known to sing on occasions!
In the school holidays we run story and craft workshops for the older children. These cost 75p and are very popular (we had 32 children making Pokemon mobiles last half-term!). Tickets are available from the library, but they do sell out as places are limited.
Adults are not neglected either. We are presently running a CLAIT computer course on Thursday mornings in the library using laptop computers. This course is due to be repeated shortly and is already fully booked. There is a possibility of a further course, so if you are interested please leave your details in the library.
We have a successful reading group which meets once a month, usually on the first Wednesday evening. This is a very light-hearted evening where we discuss the book we have all just read. New members are very welcome.
The library will shortly be going “on line” and becoming computerised. Borrowers will be issued with a computer card which will allow them to borrow books from any Lincolnshire library. This will be a major step forward for the library and should result in a faster and more efficient service.
All exciting stuff!
Why not come and see for yourself? Your friendly and helpful library staff, Pauline and Mel look forward to your visit!!
