MACLA Newsletter no.2 - Feb 2001

A New Look for the New Year

Well, here we are with the second issue of the MACLA Newsletter. And you don’t have to be exactly eagle-eyed to spot that it looks different to the first one!

Always happy to take on board your suggestions, we have changed the style from leaflet to booklet. So now it will be easier to stand on a bookshelf, take less space if you put it in a drawer, is less likely to become dog-eared (apologies to our canine friends), and is easier to thumb through with one hand while the other hand takes care of the tea and biscuits.

We hope that you like it.

What won’t be immediately obvious is that we have been able to use some of the lottery-funded equipment that we referred to in Issue One to set up the text and the advertisements. When we become more proficient with the software we shall introduce photographs. Look out for Issue Three.

(For anybody who didn’t see the article in Issue One, MACLA was awarded £3681 from the National Lotteries Charities Board as part of the “Millennium Festival Awards For All” programme. The money has been used to buy a computer and “desk-top publishing” software.)

As for this Issue of the Newsletter, we have been fortunate to receive items from a wide variety of local leisure organisations. Many thanks to the contributors of the articles. Without you there would be no Newsletter.

And for any would-be contributors, it couldn’t be simpler. Whatever your leisure organisation is into, as long as it’s legal we’d like to spread the word on your behalf. Just put together a short item and send it to Geoff Brown, 4 Saxon Close, Metheringham, LN4 3HQ. If we have the space we’ll publish it.

The Newsletter is distributed free of charge to more than 2000 households in Metheringham and the surrounding villages.
