Logo winners:
Creative James Atkin (left) and Rikki Smith won £10 CD tokens after entering a competition
to design a logo for a community leisure association. The Metheringham
Area Community Leisure Association (MACLA) was set up in May last year to
coordinate leisure activities. Macla chairman Geoff Brown said the
competition was a good way to get young people involved in community
activities.
"Macla has been very successful in getting everyone in the local community
together and it is a great way to let people know what is going on, in both
sport and other activities," he added. "We are holding a meeting
in Metheringham Village Hall at 7:30pm on Tuesday, March 6 and we want as many
people to come along as possible because we need to develop a strategy for
applying for future funding. It is important that we demonstrate to
potential fund holders that the whole community is behind Macla and that we are
acting for the benefit of the community as a whole."
A newsletter detailing Macla's activities and plans for the future will be sent
out to around 2000 homes in the Metheringham area next week. For further
information contact Mr Brown on (01526) 321490
