Lincoln Lions Club is just one of several hundred throughout Great Britain and
Ireland. The Lions clubs were formed in 1917 to serve their own community
and to support international projects. they now have 1,500,000 members in
190 countries.
The Lincoln Lions are involved in numerous fund raising events around the
city; duck race, road race series and the Christmas market, to name but
three. From the funds raised they support local groups and individuals as
well as the international support. Lions Clubs International support eye
camps in India, waterwells in Africa and emergency aid as required.
Every penny raised is spent on a charity project.
There is also a strong friendship and social side to the club.
They
arrange social outings, dinner meetings with guests, and have an annual
dinner/dance.
They meet at the Moor Lodge at Branston on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every
month at 7:30pm. If you are fed up with the television on that night then
pay them a visit and find out about them and the forthcoming activities. if
you think it is your thing, then why not join in!
If you would like more information then please call Lion Jacob on 01526

In 1953, while Dr. and Mrs. Collins were on vacation, their daughter Linda cut
her finger. She was taken to the Lillian Collins Hospital in Turlock
California, and attended by her uncle, Dr James Collins, who performed a skin
test before injecting Linda with the full dose of Tetanus antitoxin.
Instantly she went into anaphylactic shock, had difficulty breathing and had to
be sustained by an oxygen tent.
Dr Marion and Mrs Collins took the lessons learned from their daughters
mishap and developed them into the concepts which today characterise the medical
information service, Medic Alert Foundation. Today, the medic Alert emblem
is worn by more than 4 million members worldwide.
Medic Alert was set up by the Lions Club in the United Kingdom and Ireland in
1956. There are over 600,000 members here. there are, however, over
5 million people in the United Kingdom and Ireland alone with a hidden medical
condition that could put them at risk in an emergency.
