Accordion Lives!
Metheringham Walking Group

So you thought that the accordion was a dead instrument? Not a bit of it!

Every third Wednesday of the month, the Lindum Accordion Club meets at Horncastle Golf Club.

At the August meeting there were 26 playing members, and 20 or so listeners. People travel from as far afield as Doncaster and Hull to enjoy the music and the company.

The players range in ability from raw beginners to accomplished musicians, but the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming.

Occasionally the Club organises “Guest Evenings” when professional accordionists come to entertain. And there’s all the latest information about accordion Festivals.

If you’ve got an old accordion tucked away somewhere, and you’d like to give it an airing, why not come along? Alternatively, it’s a good place to track down an accordion to buy, and someone who would be interested in teaching you the basics. The meetings start at 8pm, but members turn up at any time from 7.30 onwards.

We have been walking for a couple of months now, and the small group who go every Sunday enjoy it very much. If anybody would like to join us, please come along to the Star and Garter for 10.30am on Sundays.

The Lincoln cardiac Support Group joined us in August and hope to once a month. The walks are approximately 5 miles, in rain or sunshine (we don’t shrink when we’re wet!)

Our map reading has on occasions been mind boggling, but as yet we’ve always found our way home!!

If you wish to join us, comfortable and waterproof footwear and clothing is advisable.

For more information, please do not hesitate to phone Wendy on (01526) 320686.
