Farewell 2006
As January floats on by, the clouds all scurry across the sky
The birds are singing early while in bed we still lay
And earlier each morning it gets lighter and lighter
As the clouds in the sky get higher and whiter
Out in the hedge rows the snow drops are waking
And the Blackbird s are singing, a nest they will be making
Mountains of mole hills appear on our lawn
The birds are scratching for worm’s early morn
As we look out of the window the barn owl swoops low
His partner is waiting, what he will bring home know one does know
The Mornings are warmer and you can hear the birds sing
They are all getting excited they think it is spring
The Moles are busy working there’s juicy worms to be caught
Rooting up lawns and some nice tennis court
But that’s nature in which we would do badly with out
If the weather keeps warm the hedge rows will sprout
It’s better for all if the weather keeps cold with a slight frost each night
Because our friend the hedge hog is still in bed snug and tight
He should stay there while March until the slugs and the insects start crawling about
It may be nice now, but its still a long way to spring don’t get too eager until the cuckoo’s about
