News Magazine 26. Spring 2007 - Editors Corner
Spring is almost here, and along with it the deadline for another quarterly issue of our news magazine. This time of year usually finds me in a relaxed and contented frame of mind as I compose my editorial comments; sadly not this year. Instead I have been plagued with several weeks of stressed out anguish from our Treasurer who has been struggling to collect money owed by a number of our advertisers.
We appreciate that the majority of these pay promptly on receipt of our invoice but some, unfortunately, have chosen to forget. To make our administration more effective, we are investing a great deal of time and effort in introducing web technology to our invoicing process. In the meantime, I would like to ask for a little more support from those who tend to need regular reminding of their debts!
The newsletter is produced and all administration conducted by a small team of local volunteers, all of whom have families, day jobs, and better things to do than make endless phone calls to chase advertising payments! One way in which advertisers can reduce our (and their own) workload is to take up our offer of discounted rates in return for a single, annual prepayment.

On a more positive note, feedback from those advertisers to whom we have spoken has generally been excellent. Continued positive comments on the effectiveness of the adverts, combined with a rise in our quarterly printing cost to over £800, has led us to agree to the first increase in our charges for six years.
The new rates, listed on the inside back cover of this issue, will take effect from the Summer 2007 issue. As a special incentive for new Advertisers or those currently paying for one issue at a time, the old rates will be held for annual payment (only) until 30 April 2007. Please contact Mike if you wish to take advantage of this offer. Note that advertisers who have already prepaid for future issues will not be affected by this increase until the time of their next annual invoice.
