A Word of Warning
………from the Chairman of Metheringham and District Swimming Pool Association
Support us an the functions we arrange or the pool could close next year!!
1) We teach youngsters to swim and improve their strokes.
2) We teach young people life-saving skills.
3) We provide facilities to enable adults to keep fit
4) We could teach adults to swim if there was interest shown and
we provide a clean, safe environment for people of all ages to have fun in “YOUR” Swimming Pool
Very few communities have a facility such as ours and we are very lucky.
AND NOW THE CRUNCH
It takes hours of hard work to prepare the pool for summer and to keep it running throughout the season. The small committee and a couple of regular helpers have spent many days at the pool working on behalf of the community and it is all voluntary.
The income from gate receipts does not cover the annual running costs of the pool which are in the region of £8,000. We need to top up the money with fun-raising SO PLEASE SUPPORT US
The children’s Easter Disco saw about 50 children there. That is out of a local school of some 250.
At the recent Quiz Evening there were four teams taking part. That was out of an electorate of over 2,700 people in the village.
On Sunday 8 July (starting at 2.00 pm) it is our annual “It’s a Knock-out”. Teams of five children under the age of 15 compete in the pool for the MADSPA Trophy and medals. Children taking part need to be confident in deep water. Entry fee is £5 per team.
It is lots of fun, with a BBQ and drink available.
Entry forms are available at the Pool.
This year we have also been asked to include adult teams, so if you fancy getting wet, give us a ring on 01526 321581 or 321175.
Last year, the Seaside, came to Metheringham when we held our “Beach Party” with real sand and buckets and spades. We ha a coconut shy, a limbo competition, a bouncy castle and lots of other attractions. We threw some shrimps on the “Barbie” (or burgers an sausages) and served fruit punch (the adult one was rather nice – hic!)
This years’ “Beach Party” is on Sunday 9 September from 2.00 – 8.00 pm. Entry is by ticket – costing £2.00 for all, from the pool or order by phone. Food and drink is extra
Thank you and remember US IT OR LOSE IT!
