MACLA Website enquiries

I'm researching the name Bowin and in the 1851 census I find William Bowin with the occupation that looks like 'cottager'. Obviously I'm keen to learn anything I can about the Bowins but I'm just as interested in that occupation. Can anyone tell me anything about mid nineteenth century 'cottagers' please?

My ancestor John Wray was born in Dunston about 1801. By 1841 he had moved to Butterwick (Lincs) where he was married to Ann Robinson of Leake and had 6 children. Does anyone have information about him before 1841?

(Angela has had some response to this enquiry but no doubt would appreciate more)

Does anyone have any information about the Metheringham Brass Band? I know it was active certainly in the late 1800s, and possibly in to the 1900s? I would be grateful for any information.
Also, would anybody like to see a Brass Band in the Metheringham area again? As a local brass player I think it would be great for the community
