Metheringham Bowls Club

Our season, which runs generally from the beginning of May to the end of August, is now well and truly under way. True to form, the weather broke as the season began, but bowlers are a fairly hardy lot and do not allow a few chilly nights and a drop of rain to deter them from turning out to play for the club.

At the time of writing, we have only played three matches in each of our six leagues (18 matches in all) but we have made a fairly good start. Our “A” team in the Lincoln & District League has so far only dropped 5 points out of a possible 42. The “B” team has won two of its three matches and our Cliff League team recently trounced North Hykeham 12-2. The EBC team is also doing well and although the City Evening League is struggling a bit at the moment, it is early days and we have every confidence that they will improve as the season progresses.

There are still openings for new members at every level, but particularly in the City Afternoon League. If you would like to have a go at bowling and could play on a Thursday or Friday afternoon, there is a very good chance we could find a place for you in the team. Don’t be nervous! It is all good fun and out team captain will guide you all the way. If you do not have any bowls we have lots that you can borrow.
