Cost of Our Operations
We are entirely funded by local donations and community grants. We also actively fund-raise.
Our annual cost of operation is usually in the region of £2,850+ This is made up of:
L.I.V.E.S = £1,650 - Covers Training, mobile phones, stationery, kit, supplements and annual subscription to L.I.V.E.S.
Eqpmnt £700 - Oxygen cylinders, Defib Pack etc
Sundries = £500 - Whilst this is a large sum, we only need 150 friends so that we can operate in the future. This is only a small cost for the reassurance of knowing that we will be there should you ever need us.
What Is Our Aim?
Our Aim is to provide immediate care to people in and around the Metheringham area who suffer from the life-threatening conditions such as heart attacks, strokes and collapsing. We are also called to Road Traffic accidents and other medical emergencies.
As all of our Responders live in and around the area this means we usually arrive before the Ambulance Service and give out medical assistance and advice until the ambulance arrives. This prompt treatment often helps to save the person’s life.
All of our Responders are trained in crucial life-support methods and as such all are qualified to use a defibrillator, perform oxygen therapy, basic life support and how to use the equipment provided.
We are alerted by the Ambulance Service via text message or special L.I.V.E.S. mobile phones, which gives us all information we need to find the right location.
We are only called if the Ambulance service is to be sent and we are never used as an alternative to them.
Who We Are
Each Responder is a volunteer, living in or near Metheringham. We undergo extensive training at head Office in Horncastle and then we have to be re-examined and re-qualified every year.
Two of our team members are Training Officers and training sessions are held on a Tuesday night once a month in Dunston Methodist Chapel.
We are in constant need of new volunteers as the team is quite small and it is a struggle to provide cover 24/7.
We appreciate that becoming a Responder is not for everyone but this is the chance to become our "Friend" by committing to a modest but regular donation of just £20 a year.

Activities to Date:
Metheringham Area L.I.V.E.S. has been in operation for 5 years. In that time we have been called out over 500 times. We are here just in case YOU or YOUR FAMILY need us.
We have been invited to take part in many activities locally including such events as the recent Fire Brigade Open Day where we had a stall and raised over £160.
We also attended Scopwick Village Fete where £80 was raised by our responders.
On Saturday 20th October we will be at Metheringham Fayre and Feast where we will again be fund-raising.
