MAD News - Spring 08

CALLING ALL MEN!! YOUR VILLAGE NEEDS YOU!!!

Metheringham Amateur Dramatics' are planning to perform 'Lark Rise' in Blankney Stables (by kind permission of the Blankney Estates) in July 2008.

This is an ambitious open-air production which requires a large cast (43), a brass band and a choir! There are quite a few men needed in the cast and we would like to try and recruit these from the MACLA area before sending this out to other parts of the county.

If you would like to join in this community play please contact either Ken Frape (01526 378571) or Rob Halls ( 01526 321807 ) who will be able to give you more information.

For this play we are also putting in a plea for corduroy trousers, sleeveless shirts and flat caps - this play is set in 1890 so you can imagine the kind of costumes we are looking for. You can contact our wardrobe mistress Dian Robinson on 07932520362 if you have any clothing suitable for this period.

We need singers in the bass, baritone and tenor registers for a play we are going to perform in Blankney Church on 2 and 3 May where the proceeds will be going the to the Blankney Tower Fund. Called 'The Hollow Crown' this is about the fall and foibles of the Kings and Queens of England. Audition notices will be out shortly and if you would like to know more about this production please contact Rob, Ken or Gaynor Little (320559) who will be directing this as well as Lark Rise.

The pantomime this year 'Sleeping Beauty' was a great success in January and a big thank you for being such fantastic audiences. A new sound and lighting system has been purchased (thanks to BT Community Funding) which has made a vast difference to the group.

If you would like to join MAD - please contact Gwyneth Holland on 322633 who will be able to give you more information.
