Metheringham Bowls Club - 2008 Season
In terms of Outdoor Bowls, this has been our closed season. But, as dedicated bowlers, most of our members continue to play throughout the winter at either Lincoln Indoor Bowls Club, or Sleaford Indoor Bowls Club. Although they do not necessarily play under the banner of "Metheringham Bowls Club", most of our members play together and enjoy the warm and friendly environment of playing "Indoors", during the winter months.
On 29 March, 2008,
We shall be holding our annual dinner at Martin Moor Golf Club. This promises to be a social event when we shall all get together for a friendly evening.
On Friday 4 April,
We are joining with the Football Club to host a Horse Racing Evening, at the Star and Garter, courtesy of Butch. It is the day before the Grand National, so hopefully everyone will be in gambling mode. The racing will begin at about 8.30pm but it promises to be a busy night, so get there early to ensure a seat!! You will be able to place bets on horses in units of 50p and a Tote Double will be operated for those who want it.
On Saturday 19 April,
The Bowls Club will be holding a Coffee Morning, at the pavilion. There will be a tombola, a cake stall, a jumble stall, and various other attractions.
On Sunday 20 April, (2.00 pm)
The Bowling Green will be officially opened for the 2008 season. We are hoping that someone from Radio Lincolnshire will be there to send the first wood, but have not yet had confirmation of that. If you have never bowled in your life before, but would like to have a go, this is the day to do it. Most of our members will be there, and weather permitting, there will be the opportunity to practice and then play a game. Do not be shy - come along and join us for a bit of fun. Please try to wear flat soled shoes, but if you do not have any, we may be able to provide them - and we have lots of bowls that you can borrow.
