Beauty in Decay

Matt, from Grimsby, is a talented photographer, although in his Flickr profile he describes himself as a deadbeat. While he continues to produce wonderfully evocative photographs like those below, deadbeat is hardly an apt description.

Matt specialises in taking shots of urban decay, in and around Lincolnshire. He has a superb collection on Flickr, under the pseudonym of magoo squared, some of which are relevant to the Metheringham area.

The first of Matt's images is of a Nissan Hut at RAF Metheringham, between Metheringham and Martin.

The next is of the Nocton Hall ruins. This once vibrant stately home was severely damaged by fire a few years ago and now sadly the ruins are all that remain. Matt has done a sterling job of capturing the essence of the Hall even in its decaying state.

Matt's website, urbanlincs, seems to have acquired a few technical gremlins as it doesn't display properly in a browser. Visit his Flickr photostream to see the rest of his work.

Thanks to Matt for permission to link to his wonderful collection.
