Local Crime Figures Now Available On Lincolnshire Police Website
Lincolnshire Police have made some of the county's crime figures available on their website, allowing the public to see and monitor the level of crime in their area at the click of a button.
The information will show the level of the following categories of crime:
- Burglary
- Drug Offences
- Criminal Damage
- Violence against the Person
- Vehicle Crime
- Theft from Person
- Overall Crime
By clicking into ' 'My Local Police' on the Lincolnshire Police website, and then clicking 'Local Crime Information', people will be able to open two tables showing the latest month's figures compared to the same month the previous year, including the percentage change, and the crime figures for the financial year to date, again compared to the same period the previous year and the percentage change.
Members of the public will have the choice of accessing figures for the entire force, or for the force's West, East and South Divisions, or for their particular police sector. It even gives figures right down to neighbourhood policing level, allowing residents to see the exact situation in their own communities. This should be of particular value for police/community working, helping people to make informed views about their concerns and priorities based on the true level of crime in their area, as opposed to their perception, which is often understandably based purely on their own experiences.
Neighbourhood Policing Teams will be encouraging people in their communities to use the new facility on the website, and will be happy to discuss any issues of concern with local residents.
Julie Hogan, Performance Manager for Lincolnshire Police says, "Publishing these crime figures on the police website provides a picture of crime levels in the county which is quickly and easily accessible to members of the public". "This helps to convey true and accurate information which we hope will be of direct benefit to communities in working with us". "The figures available now are just a start - in the future we will be developing the information available via the website to include other subjects such as details of crimes detected".
