The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal 2008
Thank you to all those who donated to the appeal last year and to those who volunteered to sell poppies. You raised £2,538.34 which was £500 more than the previous year. Well done!

Remembrance-tide will soon be here again and we will be remembering those who died in the two World Wars. But it is not just those who were involved in these two major battles that we remember. Every year, apart from one, since the end of the Second World War, members of the armed forces have been involved in conflict around the world and have died or been wounded. You will no doubt have read articles in the newspapers or seen news items on the TV recently about the number of soldiers being killed and wounded in Afghanistan and Iraq. These wounded soldiers and their families, and the families of those who have been killed need our help.
Your donations are vital if The Royal British Legion is to help them. I hope that the people of Metheringham, Blankney, RAF Digby and the surrounding areas will be even more generous than before.
There are areas that have no House to House collectors, particularly Blankney, the top end of Prince's Street, Princess Margaret Avenue, Alfred Avenue and the Shiregate estate in Metheringham.
If you feel that you can spare a few hours to go House to House to sell poppies, please call me - thank you.
