Twirlers - Winter 2008

Starlite Twirlers
We would like to keep you all updated with what has been happening in Starlite Twirlers over the last few months.
Before the last competition, to help with costume costs, it was decided that a sponsored spin would be arranged.
On the day it was set into four sections, the winners of each section were: Rosie MacDavid, Mia Coucom, Shannon Brammer and Claire McDavid who all received chocolates.

It has been a really busy period for us, we attended the Great Britain Baton Twirling Association Annual Awards in Filey 3-6 October. A fantastic weekend was had, lots of early mornings but lots of high spirits. 13 Troupes attended this latest competition to which the results were:

Well done to all girls and troupe members. We celebrated at the Star and Garter on the Tuesday night after our return with Sausage and Chips.
We had a busy time on Feast Day. The girls marched in the parade following the cadets up to the War Memorial. Following the opening ceremony we showed off our routines which won the prizes at Filey.
We would like to thank the Star and Garter for the use of their dining room on that day for costume changes for the girls, their support is always appreciated.
On the day "Pound in a Bucket" was won by Fred Reynolds of Reynolds School of Motoring, well done Fred.
A big thank you to everyone who placed a £1 in our bucket, your support is always appreciated.

On 15 November we attended the Classic Championships, hosted at Ponds Forge in Sheffield. Good Luck to all the girls. We will update you next time with our results.

Up and coming displays:
7 Dec Heighington Christmas Market,
14 Dec Horncastle Christmas Market,
19 December we will be in the Village Hall for Christmas Night. After our busy year the girls will be celebrating, as usual, with our Christmas Party on the 21 December.

It is with regret we see the end of an era. Claire MacDavid is moving onto pastures new after 8 years as trainer of the troupe. Who can believe it is 8 years since Claire and Kathleen Curtis decided they could bring the art of baton twirling to Metheringham and create the troupe we have today. Countless girls and boys have passed through the troupe over the years and have put a small village, as we are, on the map. Press and television coverage showing off what the village has achieved has come our way. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Claire for her countless hours of time spent making up routines, creating costumes and lots and lots of hours spent training the youngsters to the standard they have achieved today. Without her imagination, creativity and uniqueness of routines we would not be where we are today. So now Claire after you have planted the acorn we will grow the tree and make you proud of something you both created. We would like to say Goodbye and Good Luck for everything you do in the future.
