Branston U3A - Spring 2009
Branston University of Third Age (U3A)
2008 has been another successful year for us with membership figures now around our projected maximum of 150. Prospective new members may have to go onto a waiting list, but, as the numbers are changing all the time, it may not be a very long wait. Several sitting members of the committee, including chairman Peter Foster, are retiring and a new committee will be elected at the forthcoming Annual General Meeting to be held on March 24th.
New interest groups which have been started during the last year include Croquet in the grounds of Branston Hall Hotel (not during the winter months!), German Conversation and Poetry and Prose for Pleasure.
For further details please contact George James, Vice Chairman & Publicity. Tel. 01522 792274.

I am chairman of Sale U3A and we have arranged a weekend trip to Lincoln at the beginning of September.
As a consequence of this I was reminded that my fathers family originated from Branston. Family name Pinder, grandfather Sidney, his bother Bill, sisters Ada & Norah, grandmother Gertrude Camm Taylor, my father Ronald, his brother George.
I wondered if there were still Pinders in the village and if they remmber any of the above. If so would they like to get in touch.
I would be grateful if you could help.
I know this is a big favour to ask and if you feel you don not wish to be involved I will quite understand. Thanking you in anticipation.
