Metheringham News - 23rd December 2009

From Dot Howes

The winner of Barry's Shield for the Best Decorated House for Christmas 2009 were Mr E and Helen Tripp of 2 Bona Close. After some deep discussion the judges chose Mr Paul Petch from Rowan Close as runner up. Unfortunately the judges, Mr and Mrs David K Brooke-Taylor from Townsville Australia, were not able to include all of the best decorated properties in their deliberations as only a few were entered in the competition. Barry hopes the competition will attract more interest next year.

Metheringham Amateur dramatics (MAD) will be performing the pantomime Pirate Treasure in Metheringham Village Hall on January 29th and 30th and February 5th and 6th. They will also be performing the pantomime at Sleaford Little Theatre on February 13th 2010. Tickets will be available shortly.

There was a very festive family party feel to Metheringham Village Hall on Friday 18th December when the Management Committee held its annual open evening for all hall users and their friends and families.
The Silver Sounds Band played, the Starlite Twirlers displayed their baton and pom pom routines and Dean Martin's Ikuma Karate group gave a dramatic demonstration of their skills. There were mulled wine and mince pies, children's party games, quizzes, stalls and a raffle.
Father Christmas was also able to find time to call in and visit the children. Doreen Blackband won the picture quiz and Pauline Ventress and Pam Reynolds jointly won the Christmas Quiz - all with full marks.
Village Hall Management Committee Chairman Jenni Honisett made presentations to Pauline Ventress, Kevin, Fiona from NK leisure ( who helps with the New Age Kurling and organised the children's party games), Wendy Tompkins and Carole Knox.
