Metheringham Area Local Police News - Spring 2010
I think this decade is going to fly by even faster than the previous one.It is almost March as I am writing this. Mind you, it is still snowing outside!
I am pleased to say we suffered very little crime over the Christmas period.
Please continue to think about home and vehicle security on these dark evenings.
Although generally 'anti-social behaviour' has not been a great problem, we have had a few incidents where groups of youngsters have behaved badly.
Some youngsters have been jumping in hedges. Although this may be a great 'lark' to the person doing it, we know it can cause great distress to the occupants. A number of youngsters have been spoken to at their homes in front of their parents, so we hope this problem may be resolved.
If you are experiencing problems like this, do contact your neighbourhood policing team. We are interested and we WILL respond.
We have also received complaints of youngsters banging on the windows at the village hall during meetings, as well as riding mopeds around the car-park unnecessarily.
We have excellent CCTV at the village hall and generally find out who is doing what.
The CCTV at the hall resulted in the arrest of two young suspects for burglary to the store-room at the rear of the hall. Both have sincebeen dealt with.
The Metheringham Coop have informed us that they are doing a 'roaring trade' in the mornings, with school-children in the store. However, they complain that some of the children are failing to pay for items they leave with and this is becoming quite expensive.
We have been liaising with staff at the store, with a view to apprehending offenders.
We continue to have problems with motorists who park in the bus-stop areas outside the store. There is no excuse for this as there is ample parking at the rear of the store. Parking in the bus-stops WILL be dealt with by the issuing of a £30 fixed penalty ticket.
You can come and talk to your beat team at our police surgeries at the Metheringham Info-links premises on the High Street between 10am - 12 midday on the following dates: 26 Mar / 28 May / 30 July / 24 Sept.
As part of our continuing programme to improve how we provide our services to the public, we are introducing a single non-emergency 'phone number. The number is: 0300 111 0300 (will be charged at local-call rates).
All other existing 'phone numbers will run simultaneously for a few months but will eventually be phased-out.
Simon Gordon. PC 638
