Nocton Parish Council News - 12 Jan 2010
(excerpt from Nocton Parish Magazine)
The monthly meeting of the Parish Council was held on 12th Jan in the Village Hall. Cllr Storr chaired the meeting, 4 other councillors, a district councillor and 4 members of the public attended. The PCSO gave a report on speeding through the village. A question was raised from the public as to whether next year a more substantial Christmas tree in a more obvious location for the village could be provided. Cllr Askew said that the tree was provided by the Village Hall management committee. It was suggested that the Parish Council may support the project on behalf of the village for next year. The village litter picker reported that the most severe area of littering was at the entrance to Nocton Park. Residents from Wasp's Nest have responded with some ideas for the adopted BT phone box at Wasp's Nest. D Cllr Rose indicated that Steven Priestly from NKDC was still waiting for the Parish Council submission on affordable housing in Nocton.
NKDC reports that tenders for the security works to preserve Nocton Hall in accordance with the urgent works notice funded by English Heritage, are in, and the contractor is being selected. Plans have been submitted to NKDC for the dairy unit proposed for Dunston Heath and the accommodation units on Nocton Heath.
Highways have agreed that dropped kerbs near the Post Office are essential and some white-lining will be done, subject to finances in next years budget. Concern was again expressed about the turn off on to the B1188 through Nocton, especially during the hours of darkness. Concern was also expressed over the state of the roads since the snow.
On Sunday the 11th April 2 - 4pm, Ralph Timms will be again arranging his Village Litter Pick, more details to follow.
The Council set its 2010 precept at £7,875 and increase of 5% on last year.
Next Parish Council Meeting on 2nd Feb at 7pm.
