Starlite Twirlers Update Spring 2010
Hi to you all from Starlite Twirlers. We hope you have enjoyed your Christmas as much as we have!
We didn't give an update for the Winter edition so will bring you up to date with what we have been doing since our last update. During the Summer we took part in various FĂȘtes across the County and very much enjoyed doing so. it gets the girls out and about into communities and they get to show off their Baton and Pom Pom Skills. They were very well received, as usual.
The girls were given a break over August to recuperate and chill and started back to training at the end of August so that they were ready for their next competition. This took place at Primrose Valley, Filey during the weekend of 3 October where we had Babies, Tinies, Juniors and Senior girls competing against troupes from across the Region. As you will have read in the local press, the girls did very well.
They are now getting ready for their next competition. Some of the girls are going to Wakefield to take part in Individuals where they are hoping, once again, to come back with some medals. We will update you on their results in the next issue.
The girls had a Christmas party, held in the village hall for them and their families, where they were given a chance to let their hair down and had a visit from Santa, giving them presents. DJ Bob provided the disco so we had some "banging tunes!".
We have now said goodbye to another Trainer, Leanne Riddell, who has moved to pastures new. We appreciate the hard work she put in with the girls last year. Katie Garrick and Gemma Casey have now stepped up to the mark and are taking over training. They have both been members of the troupe for some years so are putting their skills and imagination to the test and are creating some fantastic new routines for the girls to take out to displays and competitions for this forthcoming year. Thanks girls.
We would like to thank you for your continued support and I am sure you will join us (the committee) in wishing the girls the best of luck for their forthcoming competitions.
