Blankney Cricket Club Update Summer 2010

At long last the cricket season is with us. Hopefully we can now look forward to some balmy summer days and some good cricket at what has got to be one of the most beautiful and well kept grounds locally. The ground is a credit to David Pearse who now does the majority of the work on it.

A huge debt of thanks is also due to the Parker family who continue to lease us our beautiful ground and are always there to give us assistance if needed.

The committee of Blankney Cricket Club have worked hard over the winter months to try and establish the club as one which local people would like to join and be proud to play for.

We have recruited new players both young and some a little older who have all blended in well with the club and already starting to make a difference to our results.

To date the club has played six weekend matches winning four of them which is in sharp contrast to our endeavours last year.

The midweek season is now also under way with the Blankney Estates team again plying their trade in the Lincoln Midweek league.

We are also entered in three cup competitions, the Pattinson Cup at Sleaford where we have drawn last year's runners up Welby. The Village Trophy where we travel to Caythorpe for our 1st round match and also the Midweek Senior Cup.

The club now has a website www.blankneycc.com from which people can keep up to date with developments at the club. The site is now regularly updated with results/match reports and also has an online shop from which cricketing equipment/clothing can be purchased. Each purchase made results in a small amount of commission going to club funds.

Running a cricket club in today's world is a very expensive business. We have weekly match expenses, business rates and utility bills to pay so we are always looking for new ways to raise funds.

If anyone out there would like to sponsor us in any form and in particular for a match ball please contact the below named. On the date you sponsor a ball you will be welcomed to the ground and your name displayed on the sponsors board. You will also receive two of the well respected Blankney teas!

Blankney Cricket Club is always looking for new recruits of all ages, we have good facilities including a net (not many of those locally) a licensed bar and above all a superb outlook from the veranda of the pavilion.

If you are interested in getting involved with us please get in contact with me or any other member of the club.
