Dunston / Metheringham Bridge - C355

The above bridge, owned by Network Rail has been weight restricted since 1969, and during an assessment programme in 1994, found to be weak. Constructed from Cast Irons beams, if not addressed, it is at risk. The County Council is responsible for funding the strengthening of the bridge to allow unrestricted access usage. To achieve this they proposal to have the existing bridge re-decked. To complete this it will be necessary to close the carriageway to vehicular traffic. During the period of the closure, a footbridge will be provided to allow pedestrian access between the two villages.

LCC recognise that the road is both a commercial and school bus route and such services will be maintained by providing a call connect shuttle service between the villages.

The period of closure will be:

MONDAY 7 JUNE 2010 to FRIDAY 24 AUGUST 2010

Alternative route: B1189 Lincoln Road (Metheringham), B1188 Sleaford Road, Lincoln Road and Chapel Lane (Dunston) and vice versa.
