Allotments - Metheringham
The Parish Council is extremely disappointed to report that, following two years of negotiations with the land agent to acquire some of the glebe land in the village, it has been sold to another party. Clearly the needs of the local community have not been considered. The Parish Council wereprepared to purchase the land and use it to enhance recreational facilities, provide much needed allotments and in time, provide new space for an extension to the Village Cemetery. It is difficult to imagine what could outweigh these urgent requirements for the Village. The waiting list for allotments has now increased to 27 people. If anyone in the village has any land that would be suitable for hire or purchase as allotments please contact the Clerk.

Annual Village Meeting
We would like to thank everyone who attended the 2010 Annual Village Meeting held on 27 April. The evening was a great success. Iit began with a presentation from the chairman giving an overview of the parish council's achievements over the past year. He was proud to announce the council had achieved Quality Parish Council Status, the new village cross is now installed and a tremendous asset to the village. He then gave details of the projects and priorities for the forthcoming year. A presentation was made to Margaret Kristen and Graham Bromfield of the Star & Garter for all their hard work, commitment and dedication to the village over the past ten years.

The village groups gave some varied, interesting and entertaining presentations, including the Silver Sounds Band, Metheringham Fire & Rescue, Metheringham Methodist Church, Metheringham & District Swimming Pool Association (MADSPA), Mission X Youth Group, Metheringham Amateur Dramatic Society (MAD), The Army Cadet Force and Metheringham & Dunston LIVES. This year's guest speaker was Vivienne Chambers from the Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance, she gave an excellent presentation and the evening ended with a raffle. If you have any suggestions or comments regarding the Annual Village Meeting please contact the Clerk.

Community Plan
Following some initial meetings a number of people volunteered to be members of the Community Plan Steering Group, the first meeting took place on 25 May. The Plan is being produced by members of the public with the guidance of Fiona Lowe at Community Lincs. This is not a Parish Council project, but we are in full support of it. If you can spare a few hours and would like to be involved in the future of your village please contact Fiona Lowe: 01529 302466

Play Equipment
Following a number of requests for new play equipment in the play parks the Parish Council has purchased and installed new outdoor fitness equipment. There are three pieces of adult equipment located adjacent to the car park in Princes Street; Double Air Walker, Air Skier and an Elliptical Trainer, the Children's Ten Way Fitness Station is being extremely well used, however we believe there have been some initial problems of vandalism, if anyone is seen tampering with this equipment their names will be given to the police. A Children's Double Air Walker has been installed in the Shiregate park and further equipment may be installed at a later date. Three businesses have kindly contributed towards the project ; The Beehive, Jacksons Work Wear Rental Ltd and Top Wok Chinese Takeaway. if anyone else would like to make a donation please contact the Clerk. Your comments and views on the equipment are welcomed.

Recreation fields & related issues
The Parish Council is still in negotiations with Lincolnshire County Council relating to the lease of the Star & Garter field for use by Metheringham Primary School. Unfortunately there are some major issues which the Parish Council cannot accept, therefore this has not progressed and we cannot report any positive actions. The Parish Council are desperately trying to reach a solution and are totally committed to providing better facilities for the community.
