News Magazine 39 - Summer 2010

Editors Corner

For my lead into your Summer Issue I feel I have to express sincere thanks to the dedication and commitment given to this village by Graham (Butch) Bromfield, Maggie and sisters Sue and Lynn over the last 10 years.

Ten years ago, it is, when Butch took over the Star & Garter but sadly he has now moved on to pastures new at The Ferryboat, Washingborough and we at MACLA pass on all our best wishes. Butch and his team will be a hard act to follow when one looks back at what they have done for this village.

Every year, without fail, they have held the Annual Veg and Produce show with all proceeds going to worthy local causes, including the Church, the Swimming Pool and the Metheringham Pre-School to name a few. The whole staff have all been actively involved in the annual Fayre and Feast, getting into the spirit of the event and decorating the pub out in the specific theme. Butch has regularly acted as Santa at Christmas Parties.

On Remembrance Day and the Switching on of the Christmas Lights, without payment, the Star has made refreshments available to all involved. They have supported the football club through sponsorship and events and been actively involved in providing school meals for our local primary school.

As I said - they will be a hard act to follow - thanks for everything.........
