Shooting Stars News Summer 2010
Shooting Stars has continued to go from strength to strength and has now relocated to Martin Village hall to accommodate the extra children we have attending.
In November we attended our first troupe competition - and we only entered one section - Junior Pom, which we won. We also achieved 2nd Place leader in pom (Lauren Taylor) and 1st place mascot (Lieouni Gray) It was a great competition and 8 teams took part in total.
We then went to another troupe competition in March - this time we entered several sections and we were delighted with the results. We secured places in every section we entered including 1st place troupe in Tiny Pom and 1st Place troupe in Junior Flag. We came away with a clutch of medals for our leaders and mascots as well as for the marching competition - even our parents got involved and Stephen "Frank" Wildgoose won 1st place in the adult marching.
We have a busy summer planned with various displays and fund raising events as well as preparing for another Troupe competition in September. We are taking 15 girls to competition. We are looking forward to taking part at one of the largest competitions we will have attended as 11 teams are entering including fellow twirlers, Starlight Twirlers. Good luck to all the girls taking part and thanks to all the parents who continue to support us.
We had our first presentation night in April to celebrate the "birth" of the team as Shooting Stars was officially launched in April 2009. We had 55 people attend and we had a great evening - with Katie Flintham receiving our "Spirit Award", Jennifer Taylor won "Tiny of the Year", "Juvenile of the year" went to Lieouni Gray and "Junior of the year" went to Lauren Taylor. Katie Starbuck won the "Most Improved Majorette of the Year" and Hannah Kloed received our "Trainers Majorette of the Year". Jaden Gray was crowned Twirling Princess and the most prestigous award of the evening (Twirlers Twirler) as voted for by all of the children, went to Emily Wildgoose.
We are looking to recruit new children from 18 September so for further info please contact me Cathy Raymond - Trainer 01526 323589
