Copdrop
Copdrop is a Horncastle based charity, which, since 1998, has been raising funds to support physically and mentally handicapped children in Romania.
Committee members have raised, in cash and donated goods, in excess of £100,000 in that time and have made six trips to work at the hospital in Ploiesti.
Always looking for new ways to raise money, Copdrop is currently searching for volunteers who are keen on hiking and enjoy a challenge, to take part in a sponsored walk. The walk chosen, is the Lyke Wake Walk, a 40 mile trek, across the North Yorkshire Moors (from Osmotherley to Ravenscar) and will take place on Saturday 16 July 2011.
Copdrop Treasurer, Julian Millington, explained, "The Lyke Wake Walk is a challenging walk, but anyone of reasonable fitness should be able to complete it. We will provide full back up for the volunteers, including transport to and from the walk, medical cover, regular updates on how preparations are going, and in Spring next year, we will organize a number of training walks to help people achieve the fitness level required. In return, by agreeing to walk on our behalf, we ask volunteers to raise a minimum of £200 sponsorship for Copdrop."
Anyone interested in walking is asked to contact Julian on 01507 578595 or 07985 372871.
