Metheringham Area Genealogy Enquiries Winter 2010
In the last edition of the MACLA Magazine we publicized that local historian Ricky Harby (late of Scopwick) was happy to carry out Census and Genealogy enquiries for people, free of charge. Sadly in this issue we have to report on his sudden and untimely death at the age of just 56. Our commiserations, sympathy and sorrow are extended to his wife and family.
Red House, Dunston
I am researching my family tree, I have been given some information that my Great Grandmother was born in Dunston at the RED HOUSE in 1904. I have tried Googling this to see what comes up, but I was transferred to your site. Would the RED HOUSE be THE RED LION as it is now. Tracey Henderson t.henderson2608@hotmail.com
Hammond/Turners in Dunston
My Grandfather Thomas Roffey Hammond was the owner of Dunston House in Dunston. He married Nora Annie Turner, the youngest daughter of Benjamin Turner, a tailor, of the Old Post Office and Shop. My father, Thomas John Hammond died two months ago and we would really love to find out more about the family's time at Dunston. If anybody has any information, photographs or history about the Hammonds/Turners in Dunston we would love to hear from you. Probably a long shot, I know, but here's hoping.....
