Metheringham Village Hall News Winter 2010
The Village Hall's next big event will be the Annual Christmas Party on Friday 17 December. This should be a great night for the children and there will be games and entertainment as well as mulled wine and mince pies for the older visitors. The party is open to all users of the village hall and their families and friends as well as anyone living in Metheringham. Make a note!
A Christmas Quiz is already on sale and the closing date will be 17 December so that the winners can be announced at the party. Quiz sheets are £1 available from village hall committee members. At the Fayre and Feast the village hall management committee and helpers provided refreshments in the hall and Audrey Webb won the Autumn quiz. The Proms Night Concert in November by the Lincoln Fire and Rescue Band was very successful and hopefully we will see them again in the future. New Age Kurling has continued to be a popular Friday night get together. After the December dates there will be a short break and Kurling will re-launch after the Pantomime in mid-February.
On the more practical side of things, the long awaited vestibule alterations, fenced play area and new doors will hopefully be open before you read this. The Village Hall committee is most grateful to the parish council for their financial and other help with the project. At last the hall has a new cleaner and we are very grateful to Margaret Kristen for accepting the position and hope she has a long association with the hall. The other change of personnel involves Cliff Tompkins, the secretary to the hall management committee, who has sadly had to step down due to ill health. Cliff has been a stalwart member of the team along with his wife Wendy and both will be missed. There was no response to the advertisements for a new secretary so Dot Howes has now stepped into the role.
