The Best Scarecrow Weekend YET!
Dunston 25/26 September 2010
Well, what a wonderful weekend it was! The village teeming with people yet again. Our volunteers turned up trumps too, with those doing refreshments being run off their feet. They were forced to dash out for more supplies which resulted in more than £1,000 worth of teas, snacks and lunches being provided. Well done indeed!
People had wonderful ideas for scarecrows - skeletons, spitfire pilots and mole catchers, to name but a few. Many congratulations to the winner, Holey Moley, on Chapel Lane.
Thanks also to Silver Sounds Band and Metheringham Fire Engine and crew, who joined in and made the weekend even more special.
Oh, and incidentally, St Peter's Fabric Fund benefitted by more than £2,400. We may yet see decent heating and a toilet - once we stop the rain coming in!
We did say that this was to be our last Scarecrow Weekend but we have been told it is now a village tradition and we can't stop it, so it looks like they may be right! So get your thinking caps on for next year's scarecrows!
