Metheringham Amateur Dramatics (MAD) recently held their Annual General Meeting at Blankney Old School. There was a good turnout of members and several items promoted discussion. The Chairman, Gaynor Little, reported a good year for the group with highlights being the Shakespeare Review; Allo Allo and the Pantomime, Puss in Boots. She particularly thanked the committee who, she stressed, are not there to do all the work themselves but want anyone and everyone to get involved and help out when asked. Some of the new members this year worked very hard especially with the pantomime and all are very welcome. Treasurer Ingrid Burn is no longer on the committee and thanks were expressed to her as a founder member of the group and to Sally and David Wilson for stepping in to keep the accounts on track. The only change to the officers and committee was David Wilson being elected ex-officio Treasurer to the group. The accounts showed a surplus of £1457.60 for the year. Carol Dean is the new representative to the Village Hall committee.

There was discussion on several matters arising; the need for members to pay their subscriptions on time - and the committee setting the example, the use of direct debits for subscriptions as agreed at last year's meeting!, support for the website with photos and articles, comment etc. being contributed, Succession Planning, the choir and the role of musical entertainment in the group.

Forthcoming plans include a One act play being performed as part of the Sleaford Live festival at the Sleaford Playhouse on 29th and 30th April, a youth based play Our Day Out which is struggling with casting but if it goes ahead will be performed in July. Ghost Train to be performed in October, a Remembrance tribute evening of entertainment in November ( 11.11.11) and hopefully a pantomime in the New Year .
Anyone wishing to put on or direct a production is encouraged to go ahead and the possibilities of getting a regular youth drama group in the area were discussed..

Metheringham and District Swimming Pool Association (Madspa) held their 24th Annual General Meeting on Monday 28th March 2011 in the school Pavilion. 8 people were present including five of the existing committee and Dr Mike Allen, Chairman of Metheringham Parish Council.
The previous minutes were discussed as the 2010 meeting had been abandoned and the Special Meeting and review of the Constitiution had not taken place in the interim. The existing committee had come together to ensure the pool was able to operate for the 2010 season.
Kerri Hawbrook had proved a most useful and active secretary and fundraiser to the group and Chairman Dian Robinson also thanked committee members Lynn Lacey, Maggie Kristen and Shirley Peek and several other invaluable helpers who had assisted with maintenance and caretaking work on the pool and its plant during the year. There had been many hurdles to overcome including the theft of the pipes, the extreme weather conditions and vandalism. The committee elected for the coming year were Chairman - Dian Robinson, secretary - Kerri Hawbrook, Treasurer - Anne Priest, committee - Maggie Kristen, Shirley Peek, Lynn Lacey, Matthew Haismann.

Mr Steven Willis raised the issue of money donated to the pool in memory of his late wife Dian Willis in 2008 which had not yet been used. The making of a chair had been delayed. This was felt to be unacceptable and the parish council will provide details of chair makers and will oversee the immediate ordering and installation of a commemorative seat. Dr Allen also promised to address other outstanding issues including payment of the electricity and water bills. There were also complaints regarding lack of follow up concerning the Friends of the School initiative which is no longer operating.

It is hoped the pool will be open in the Easter holidays.
