Dunston Hub

The Dunston HUB started in the Village Hall on Thursday 12 May (2pm - 4pm). Initially this venture is for six months on one day a month so do come along to find out what it is all about! It is for everyone from the youngest to the oldest so hopefully it will be convenient for many residents including parents collecting children from school.

The village does not have a shop anymore and with increasing fares and possibly less frequent bus services, it was thought a new idea was needed.

At Dunston Hub you can pop in and have a cup of tea or coffee with a slice of cake, meet new people or chat with friends and browse what is on offer. This is an opportunity for you to bring any surplus home grown fruit and vegetables to sell. If you have hens - do you have eggs for sale? There will certainly be cakes on offer. Homemade jams, pickles or preserves always find a buyer. Sell your surplus plants etc. - in fact anything you make or grow which is surplus to your needs - please bring it along and see if anyone would like them. Crafts and greetings cards would surely do well. There will be a book stall where you can borrow three books for a month for £1. You can also pick up a copy of Mature Times (in June) and maybe a magazine or two free. A visiting butcher selling local meat (Horncastle area) and basic grocery items will come into the car park. The fishmonger will also call to sell fish direct from Grimsby.

Thursday has been chosen for this venture to coincide with the Post Office facility and hopefully, popping into the Dunston HUB will encourage everyone to use it for their postal needs and phone top-ups.

We have funding for use of the Village Hall for only 6 months, so to make this idea work we need your support. To raise funds for the future hire of the Hall, anyone selling at the HUB will be asked for a 10% donation of the price of items sold.

If any resident would like to help with this venture, then please contact Diana on 320460 or Jean on 07506 330080.
