MAD Update Summer 2011
From your MAD Society!!
MAD was delighted to be asked to perform in the Live Sleaford event at Little Theatre, Sleaford at the end of April in a one act play. 'Unexpected Item in the Baggage Area' written by Lynn Brittany was the play chosen by our director Ken Frape. This was a resounding success and we have decided to bring this to the Village Hall in Meg and will be performing this on the 8 / 9 July together with another one act play by the same author, ' The Luvvies'. This play will be directed by Sue Kelly. You will be able to buy tickets on the door and for further information you can also see our website www.metheringhamamateurdramatics.co.uk which will keep you up to date with our further productions.
We tried to cast 'Our Day Out' by Willy Russell but we had difficulty in getting enough young people involved. We have decided to put this play on the back burner, and hope to revive this when we can get a cast.
In October, the autumn play will be 'Ghost Train' by Arnold Ridley (who plays Godfrey in 'Dads Army'). Written in 1923 this is a good old fashioned ghost story set in a railway station waiting room. Keep the last week of September and first weekend in October free!
A date which resounds this year is 11.11.11 and to mark this special day MAD is arranging two evenings of concerts on the 11 / 12 November to raise funds for Help the Heroes and the Royal British Legion. The programme will include recollections, poems, sketches and songs reflecting the theme of remembrance. Jill Corah who is directing this for us, would like anyone who has first hand memories or information about their time in any conflict since World War 1, that they might care to share with us, to get in touch with her on 01526 340045 so that these may perhaps be incorporated in the concerts.
If you would like to join us please contact our Membership Secretary, Fran Pembery on 320827.
We are looking forward to bringing you another great year of excellent entertainment.
Sally Wilson
