Metheringham Village Hall Update Summer 2011
your year round local venue for leisure, business or pleasure.
The year seems to be going very quickly but there is still time to let you know about a few things happening at the village hall.
The Annual General Meeting of the Metheringham Village Hall Management Committee took place on Tuesday 12 April at 7.30p.m. in the village hall. As usual we would like more local organisations to put forward a representative and for more groups to make use of the hall. You don't have to wait till the next AGM. As there were no other nominations the committee officers have not changed but advance notice was given that our Chairman and Treasurer are retiring next year. Could you fill the role? Do you think it is important that we have a village hall? Could you support and encourage the staff and/or keep an eye on the finances and send out the bills?. If you'd like to find out more, now is the time. We'd like you to come and see how things work now rather than waiting until March.
During the last year the hall has lost several regular bookings, for various reasons, and regrettably the decision was made and the resolution passed to increase the rates for hire.
The new rates are :
Before 6.00pm: preparation £6.50, function time £10 per hour.
After 6.00pm: preparation £8.50, function time £13 per hour.
We hope the new doors and entrance will be fully operational as soon as possible but all we can do to speed things up is keep on nagging.
What's coming up? Our Spring Fayre will have happened before you read this and the 50: 50 sale was surprisingly successful so another one may be held in the autumn. Helpers are always appreciated. Kurling continues on Friday nights at 7.00p.m. and all ages and abilities are welcome to come and join in. Our chairman called in one night and won a trophy!!
The facilities we have available were well demonstrated on Royal Wedding Day and we hope that despite the recent rise in some of the fees (the first rise for 5 years) hirers still find it good value for money. Don't forget it is your hall and needs your support.
