News from Metheringham Library Summer 2011
There are exciting developments at the library as from 13 June we will be re-opening with updated computers, some new stock and self-service. We will be closed for two weeks from 1 June to the 11 June for these changes to take place but you can take out up to 30 books to tide you over the closure period or use any of the other libraries in the local area or indeed any Lincolnshire library.
Self-service. What's so good about it?
Skip queues, it's quick and easy, customer privacy, pay your fines in private, access recent returns more easily, use your preferred language, get a receipt telling you when all of your books are due back.
Some people feel daunted by the self-service in supermarkets but don't worry these machines are quicker, easier and user friendly.
The machines won't talk to you though the staff will, as they will have more time to spend helping you to choose books or answer your enquiries.
You will need to bring your library card to use the new machines so, if you have lost yours, just tell us and we can soon make you a new one.
We have got quite a lot of new books to go on the shelves.
The new public computers will also be a vast improvement as our existing ones don't take any kind of memory storage device from another computer or digital camera.
We are getting a new multi-function machine to photocopy and to print from the computers so that will also be an improvement.
Some customers have commented that they don't want the library to become impersonal but, to be honest, it's too small for that to happen. We will still be there and be more available as there will be no counter acting as a barrier.
