Starlite Twirlers Update Summer 2011

Although Starlite Twirlers have been through quite a lot of change over the past few years, they are continuing to twirl under the guidance of Katie Garrick and Gemma Casey. We owe a great deal of thanks to both of these girls for their hard work and determination in keeping the troupe going!

The troupe would like to say a big congratulations to Katie on the somewhat surprise arrival of 'baby Billie', who made a lovely mascot at our recent comp!

This year saw the troupe returning to BIBTA where they have just returned from competing in a regional competition in Skegness, where they competed in various sections with once again great results:

  • Juvenile A Baton: first place,

  • Senior Baton: second place,

  • Senior Military: third place,

  • Juvenile A Pom: third place.

The following girls received leader and mascot places -

  • Ellie-May Williams - first place - Juvenile A Baton Leader,

  • Jess Reynolds - second place - Junior A Baton Mascot,

  • Katie Garrick - third place - Flag Leader,

  • Sophie Casey - third place - Senior Baton Leader,

  • Gemma Casey - third place - Leader Senior Pom,

  • Becky Blackband - third place - Senior Military Leader.

The troupe was honoured to receive the Barbara White memorial trophy in memory of a very special lady!! The troupe is proud of every one of the girls who went out and competed against the odds and did every one of us proud. Well done each and every one of you!!!!

Sadly one member of the troupe, Tia-Rose who is fighting an on-going battle with Cystic Fibrosis, was unfortunately admitted to hospital at the last minute and was unable to participate in the competition. Tia-Rose is greatly missed and the whole troupe wishes her a speedy recovery.

This summer the troupe will be taking part in various displays around the county and look forward to competing again with BIBTA in Skegness at the national championships in October.

The troupe would like to thank every committee member or parent for all their hard work and determination to keep the troupe running. We would like to wish Becky Dennis all the best in her forthcoming marriage and new arrival!

The troupe are looking to recruit new members from school age upwards and meet every Monday from 4.30 - 6.00 at Metheringham Village Hall. Please feel free to come along and have fun whilst learning a new skill. For further information please contact Mandy Casey on 07903 314707.
