1. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE
Apologies for absence were received from PCSO Flannigan, District Councillor R. Kendrick and County Councillor M. Overton
2. ACCEPTANCE OF OFFICE
Councillor Neil Faulkner signed the Acceptance of Office which was counter-signed by the Clerk
3. DECLARATION OF PREJUDICIAL INTEREST IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ETHICAL CODE OF CONDUCT
The Chair and Councillor Faulkner declared a personal interest in Item Nos. 8 and 9 "Issues Concerning Nocton Park".
4. PUBLIC QUESTIONS
The Planning Officer was asked if any thing was known regarding the sale of the Nocton Ltd. Site and if Nocton Dairies had approached the Council again.
Mr. Brown was asked about a permanent flashing speed indicator for the village. There is a scheme of 'fixed' signs and he suggested get support from County Councillor Overton. The Parish Council could purchase a device for approximately £5000 plus £1500 for all future maintenance.
Traffic through the village - between 8am and 9.30 a.m. on a Sunday six 'chicken' lorries went through. Councillor Rumbelow reported that the manager of the chicken company has said that when an order comes in it has to go out immediately. 40ft lorries use the village so is there any was to get this rout off the GPS? Mr. Brown said that was not possible.
The general state of the village looks untidy. Does the Parish Council have the power to do anything? Hedges are cut by LCC Highways on what is termed 'an area of reasonableness'. After a very long wait the hedges by the Hall grounds are to be cut next week. Parish Councillors are to walk around the village to make a comprehensive list of those items requiring attention. Households with overgrown hedges will be approached.

What a Success!!
It was a wonderful Scarecrow weekend! The weather was really kind to us, people flocked round the village in droves - at least 500 families followed the scarecrow map, then ate around £800 worth of refreshments! It was a great community atmosphere, and a tremendous team effort, which raised over £2,500 badly-needed funds for St Peter's. The weekend ended with a lovely village service of Praise and Thanksgiving in St Peter's led by Johnny Markin with John Corrie and the Da Capo musicians from Timberland. Our grateful thanks go to the band of willing helpers, from the washer-uppers to the ticket sellers, we could not have managed without you all. And the fire engine (especially the siren!) was again much appreciated by the young people. And to the stars of the show - many congratulations to the scarecrow makers, once again you were amazing!

"And next year's Scarecrow Weekend will be the 22nd/23rd September 2012, so start thinking now!"
Last season despite finishing runners up in Division 3 of the South Lincolnshire and Borders league, Blankney Cricket Club failed to gain promotion. This season they were more than determined to put things right but with July ebbing away this looked a long way off.
New players had joined the club making them a formidable outfit and with an unbeaten run of over a dozen games they were neck and neck with Baston going into the final weekend.
Both sides were on the same points total and with the threat of rain things were in the lap of the gods. Baston beat their arch rivals Spalding. Blankney, hosting Pinchbeck saw veteran team captain Ian Holvey take 4 for 21 to see them bowled out for 116. Cameron Donald scored 43 and Simon Behan 53 not out to ease Blankney to a nine wicket victory inside 21 overs.
As soon as the winning run had been hit the heavens opened. Both Blankney and Baston had finished on the same points but Blankney had won a game more.
Another little irony was that Baston had been penalised a point for a clerical error which saw Blankney champions.

Please be aware that there have been burglaries recently in the local area. The offender(s) are targeting the owners of caravans and motorhomes who keep them on driveways and at the front of their homes. The offender(s) are waiting for the occupants to go away in their caravan or motorhome and then breaking into their home. Here are a few suggestions on how you can protect your home:-
• Make your home look like someone is living in it. Don't close your curtains in the daytime this shows the house is empty. Use automatic timer switches to turn your lights on when it goes dark.
• Cancel any milk or newspaper deliveries.
• Avoid discussing holiday plans where strangers may hear details of your absence from home.
• Cut the lawn before you go and trim back any plants that burglars could hide behind.
• Uncollected mail is a sign that you are away. The Royal Mail's 'Keepsafe' service will keep your mail for up to two months while you are away.
• Consider leaving important documents and valuable items with other family members, a bank or lock them in a safe.
• Do not put your home address on your luggage when you are travelling to your holiday destination.
• If you normal leave valuable pedal cycles or similar items in your shed, consider putting them in the house.
• Finally, make sure that you've locked all outside doors and windows and, if you have a burglar alarm, make sure it is set.
Unfortunately we have had a number occur in Metheringham over the last few weeks. On another note, the CCTV cameras have been installed at Princes Street car park. I have conducted a leaflet drop asking residents to contact us when they witness any incidents of ASB. Also, I have been liaising with a Casualty Reduction Officer from Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership, he is an ex-traffic police officer who patrolled on a motorcycle and conducts a moped education package, which I hope to have delivered in Metheringham. I'll keep you posted. Regards

The Metheringham and District Hand in Hand Club and the Metheringham and District Swimming Pool Association (Madspa) are each celebrating receiving £370 following the Vegetable and Produce Show and Auction on Monday 5th September 2011 at the Londesborough Arms.
There were a total of 83 entries in the show's twelve classes which were judged by former District Councillor Bill Chambers and his wife Molly. Winner of the main event, the Best Tray, was Roy Redshaw with George Gray second and Paul Saffin in third. Other results were Best Marrow : 1st J Storr, 2nd Paul Saffin, 3rd J Storr. Largest Marrow :

It was the first time for some years that the event had been held at the Londesborough although it originated there. The show is now a highlight in the local community calendar wherever it is held. A typical comment came from Ronnie Wright "What a great village we live in. Super day, well done to all who organised the event." Following the judging and buffet there was an auction of show entries and other produce and the drawing of the raffle. The organisers were delighted with how well the event had gone in the new venue with an increase in entries and a total of 38 donated raffle prizes. Thanks were particularly directed towards Reg from the pub and Bateman's brewery, Butch for being auctioneer and voice of the microphone, the raffle organisers and everyone who supported the event.
Metheringham and District Hand in Hand Club was very pleased to receive £340 from the 2011 Vegetable and Produce Show as it will help them finance transport to their next few meetings. The group faces a severe financial crisis after Lincolnshire County Council withdrew the funding for Translink transport to their fortnightly meetings. With the removal of transport funding the group are now having to raise £100 each time they have a meeting of their 15 members and excursions are even more difficult to arrange. The group is a means for physically disabled and partially sighted able bodied to get together once a fortnight. They have tea, play bingo and other social activities and the group has been a very important part of people's lives for at least 40 years.
