Blankney Cricket Club Summer 2012 Update

As I write this article on a Saturday morning it is pouring rain and only 7c outside. The club was supposed to have commenced its season with a friendly on the 21 April with their first two league matches on 28/29 April. All three of these matches have been cancelled due to the weather conditions after the wettest April in recent times. We hopefully will have started playing cricket on the 6 May, the latest for a long time.
Everyone is raring to go but frustrated that the weather is delaying our start.

The club will play its Saturday cricket in Division 2 of The South Lincs & Border League, having been promoted from Division Three last year. On a Sunday we play in Division One of the Lincoln League and our midweek cricket is played in Division One of the Lincoln Midweek League.

Indoor nets were held at The Branston Academy sports hall but again due to the weather conditions it has been impossible to continue our training outdoors.
New players have been recruited over the close season and hopefully these new members will all enjoy playing their cricket at Blankney and strengthen our squad of players.

We are still looking for scorers for both our Saturday and Sunday teams and if there is anyone out there that fancies a go please contact me. Information about the club can be found via our website www.blankneycc.com, our Facebook group at Blankney Cricket Club or you can follow some of our banter on our Twitter account @blankneycc.

Again the club would like to invite, anyone who wants to watch a game of cricket, join the club or even just enjoy a leisurely drink on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon to pop down to what is one of the most picturesque village grounds in Lincolnshire. All our fixtures can be found on the website or I can forward a fixture to list to anyone who requests one.
Here's hoping for a quick improvement in the weather so that my next report will be able, include some news about us actually playing cricket!
