Dunston St. Peter's School Update Summer 2012

We were delighted to be awarded the Silver Sing Up Award recently. Mrs Hume, our Class 2 teacher, has worked very hard encouraging singing throughout the school and then compiling the evidence for the award. All of the children now sing in their classrooms every day and they always sing with great enthusiasm at the end of our daily acts of worship. The school choir are singing at a high standard and have performed successfully in St. Peter's Church, at the school Christmas Fayre and at The Haven Care Home in Metheringham.

Just before Easter, Mrs McLuckie, Rev Corry, Mrs Hutchinson and Mrs Glaister all came into school to do "Messy Church". The children from Classes 1 and 2 enjoyed a variety of Easter activities such as hot cross bun decorating and cross making. Rev. Corry has also been in to do Godly Play sessions with each class and they have all been very successful.

Mrs Hughes retired at the end of last term after almost 10 years at Dunston School. Mrs Hume had taken on her role of Deputy Headteacher and Mrs Webb is now teaching Class 1. We had a special assembly for Mrs Hughes and we all wished her a very happy retirement.

The children have now settled back in to school after their Easter holidays. Class 3 have started their swimming lessons at Branston and we are looking forward to the visit of Sue Hampton, a children's author. We will be holding a Diamond Jubilee Day on Thursday, 31 May when all of the children (and staff!) will be wearing red, white and blue and we will be enjoying a street party style lunch.
