Heighington Blind and Partially Sighted Club Update Summer 2012
Due to bad weather our 8 February meeting had to be cancelled. On the 22 February a member from our sister club in North Hykeham, who had a cochlear implant, gave an informative talk on the entire process, which took two years to complete from the initial consultation as well as the ups and downs that went with it.
On 7 March members enjoyed a social afternoon and played Who Wants to be a Millionaire. On 21 March, Brian Woodthorpe entertained the members on his piano accordion, raising money for B.L.E.M.S.A. On 4 April, Gina Stait had all of us shivering with cold as she described her recent cruise to Norway to see the Northern Lights, the Ice Hotel and her Reindeer sledge trip. Needless to say, there was no sunbathing on deck during this cruise. On 18 April a registered blind member from our sister club in North Hykeham gave an interesting account of his trip to Calais on one of the Jubilee Sailing Trusts tall ships, the Lord Nelson.
Anyone wishing to join the club should telephone the South Lincs Blind Society on 01476 592775.
