Dog Warden Report Autumn 2008

| | Comments (0)

Well folks, the first year has been and gone and I am pleased to say that the dog fouling problem in the village is pretty much under control. I would like to say a big "thank you" to all you dog owners who automatically clean up after your dogs.

The new bin is now in place on Highfield Rise (please make it worth while) and all bins are now being emptied regularly.

There are still the odd few dog owners who seem to believe that the law does not apply to them but I will keep on advertising and issuing bags and fixed penalty notices where necessary.

Finally I would like to say what a lot of lovely people I have met since starting the job. Come rain or shine, I will continue to work hard to maintain the standard of cleanliness for you all.

I can be contacted on 01522 820814 or through the Parish Council for any dog related problems.

Allotments - Dunston Road,
The Parish Council own four allotments at the above address. All of the allotments are currently occupied by tenants and I now have a waiting list of sixteen people. Formal requests have been made to acquire further land, but these attempts have failed. If anyone knows of any land that could be utilized for allotments please contact the Clerk.

Recreation fields
The Parish Council has been in negotiations with Lincolnshire County Council for several years. We have been unable to sign the Heads of Terms agreement for the lease of the Star & Garter field. Discussions are still ongoing in relation to the outstanding issues.

Remembrance Day Service
This year's service will take place on Sunday 9th November at St Wilfrid's Church, Metheringham, Memorial Service will be held at the war memorial garden, High Street, followed by a short prayer at the war graves. Refreshments will be served at the end of the service, at St Wilfrid's Church Hall. All are welcome.

Village Gardener/Handyman
The Parish Council are continually striving to provide high standard and cost effective services to meet the needs and wishes of the local residents. We have therefore employed a part time gardener/handyman Mr Paul Chambers. The areas he will be responsible for are Princes Street Play Park, Princes Street Car Park, Shiregate Play Park, Spring, War Memorial garden and Village Car Park - Middle Street and general handyman jobs such as erecting signs, painting railings, installing dog bins, litter bins and seats.

Youth Shelter
The new Youth/Meeting Shelter has been in use since May. Teenagers and other members of the public are using it on a daily basis and the feedback has been very positive. The Police and Parish Council will continue to monitor the shelter and surrounding area as promised.
